Ten at Global Young Leaders Conference

Ten students from St. Vincent and the Grenadines participated in the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) held in July. Four attended the conference in Europe, six in the United States. {{more}}The Europe based four, La Ron Browne, Jo-Ann Marshall, Shamora Scott, Raianna Thomas participated in The GYLC in Austria, The Czech Republic and Hungary from July 1st to the 13th 2005 among 400 students from diverse backgrounds. in attendance. Jo-Ann Marshall was nominated to speak at Global Summit, United Nations.

Meanwhile the United States leg, held in Washington. D.C. saw Marsha Ann Cadougan, Priyadarshani Ramsamooj, Mavreen Adams, Kimberley Cambridge, Tamisha Browne, Stacy Peters, all recent graduates of the Girls’ High School attending from July 17 to 28.

This trip included several meetings with renowned professors and activists, including Dr. Gary Weaver, Professor at the American University, James Mawdsley, and Maya Brahmam, Head of Speakers bureau at the World Bank.

This trip provided the opportunity of visiting some of the most distinguished sites in the USA including the Smithsonian Institute, the White House, Ground Zero and the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.
