Although Kamal Wood is quite shy, his academic achievements continue to place him in the spotlight. His face now adorns the cover of the new Cable & Wireless Directory.

Cable & Wireless Chief Executive, Daryl Jackson, told a media briefing Tuesday 17, selecting the scholar to be on the cover was in tune with the telecommunications vision to feature outstanding young people. “Over the past few years we have sought to feature young people as it identifies with our commitment to youth development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It complements the various sponsorship activities that we have engaged in over the years, and signifies our confidence in the future.”{{more}}

Jackson announced that the directory this year has improved government listings and an “Island Page”, which highlights key events in the country. “The directory is no longer just a source of telephone numbers, but a doorway to the many services provided by Cable & Wireless and a wealth of information for visitors and residents alike.”

Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer Susan Dougan expressed pleasure with the choice of Kamal for front page of the directory. She noted that this would encourage other young people to strive for excellence.

Dougan also said that there were other youngsters achieving in other areas besides the academics and encouraged Cable & Wireless to identify them and highlight their strengths.
