‘Vincy crew among the best’

Commander Gerry Northwood of the HMS Liverpool has described the Vincentian sailors among the best and the hardest workers on his ship.

He said the Vincentian sailors are among the most disciplined and conscientious workers on board his vessel. Captain Northwood made these commendations at a cocktail party when the vessel docked at port Kingstown on Friday, March 25.{{more}}

Several locals were invited on board for the dressy affair which also had in attendance British High Commissioner Brian Knight along with his wife Natalie, and Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and his wife Eloise. The invitees also witnessed the “Ceremonial Sunset” which was like a mini-parade held by the sailors whenever they docked at a new harbour.

While here the troops were supposed to do work on the Liberty Lodge Boys Training School but because of the Easter holidays that were being celebrated in that lent period, the work was cancelled.
