Chilean President visits Barbados

Chilean President Ricardo Lagos arrived in Barbados on Sunday and was met by Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dame Billie Miller, and other diplomatic officials. Lagos is in Barbados to drum up support for his country’s Interior Minister Jose Miguel Insulza’s bid to head the Organisation of American States (OAS). He is on a five-day tour of the Caribbean.{{more}}

The region’s 13 votes in the 34-member OAS are likely to be critical in choosing a secretary-general of the organisation that guides diplomacy in the Americas.
