He said the department could only function efficiently and effectively with the cooperation of the members of the Force and the general public.

Davis further stated it was important that the department maintains faith in those against whom complaints are made and those who complain. He said the Police Oversight Committee, chaired by Carlyle Dougan Q.C., was established to investigate complaints by those who are dissatisfied with the manner their complaints may have been handled by the department.

The department’s head expressed deep gratitude to the media and persons from the general public who gave generous support over the years. He expressed the wish that such level of support continues in coming years.

Commissioner Harry, in his remarks, commended ASP Davis for the excellent job he did as head of the department. He said the idea of the Public Relations and Complaints Department was a result of his own love for the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Inspector Jonathan Nichols, who is second in charge of the department, thanked ASP Davis for the confidence he placed in him in discharging the functions of the department in his absence.
