Six receive New Year’s honours

Six persons from varying fields of endeavour have received New Year’s honours from Her Majesty the Queen.

These awards were announced December 28th in a release from the office of the Governor-General Sir Frederick Ballantyne. {{more}}

The awardees include Monica Dacon, the deputy Governor-General who was awarded the C.M.G. or Companion of the Most Excellent Order of St. Michael and St. George, for Distinguished Service to Teaching and Public Administration.

The other honourees are: Basil Charles O.B.E. or Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for Distinguished Contribution to Business and Community Service; Gurney Gibson, O.B.E., for Distinguished Contribution to Business, especially in the Field of Construction; Laura Anthony-Browne, awarded the M.B.E. for Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for Distinguished Contribution to the Public Service and National Planning; Marcus Caine, M.B.E., for Distinguished Contribution to Teaching and Education Administration; and Eulalie Cozier, the M.B.E. for Distinguished Contribution to Nursing and Community Service.
