Soso takes PESCO spelling B competition

Ashanda Soso of Penniston is the new winner of the 3rd annual PEPSI/PESCO Spelling “B” Competition, held at the Penniston Community Centre on Monday, 13th December, 2004. {{more}}

The competition orginally slated for Friday, 10th December, took place on Monday, 13th and saw Ashanda beating six other competitors to cap the top prize. Second place went to Nathan Simmons of Dubois, with Chantal Dells of Vermont taking the third spot.

The top three places all received trophies while the other participants received certificates, exercise books, rulers and bottles of Pepsi. The competitors Chamane Penniston, Kenley Small, Nandia Miller and Joy-Ann Butcher were given other gifts donated by the Community Development Division.

Meanwhile, residents of Penniston will begin their Nine Morning’s activities this weekend when lights will be turned on at the old public bath in Penniston. The activities, organised by the Penniston Educational, Sports and Cultural Organisation (PESCO), include singing, tight pants, drinking and eating competitions and a carolling competition.
