Bequia aged feted by Rotary

Christmas came early for the 70 senior citizens in Bequia thanks to the Rotary Club on the Grenadine island. Some 55 elderly persons attended the annual Christmas Luncheon for the Aged organized by the Rotary Club of Bequia, while 15 others were the recipients of special home delivery. {{more}}

A release from the Rotary Club of Bequia says this activity is always “much anticipated by the seniors” as they get the opportunity to visit with old friends. The club says that some 12 persons have passed on since the last meeting while many others could not travel to the function this year where the average age was 72 years. The oldest person attending was an 89-year old.

The function has been described as being “not only about food, drinks and take away baskets, but the laughter, wise cracks and most of all the movements of the seniors on the dance floor [and] wholesome fun”.
