The students are from six schools, who advanced from qualifications last Saturday at the St. Vincent Grammar School.

At stake will be the Thomas Saunders Trophy, named for the man who has been dubbed the father of the credit union movement here. His pioneering efforts engendered the growth of the co-operative movement. Saunders, who died a few years ago, served as president of the KCCU for some time and was crusader for the co-operative movement up to his very last moments.

The finalists are: Marlon Wilkins and Shonelle McKie from Kingstown Government; Kelisha Henry and Nikeita Toney, Richland Park Government; Omark Andrews and Jannah Browne, New Grounds Primary; Kascia Smart and Olvita Bobb, Park Hill; Okyle Browne and Jeanetta Richards, Calliaqua Government; and Judy Bacchus and Alescia Joseph, Layou.

Some 41 schools in six zones vied for the final spots. They were tested on aspects of local and regional history, current affairs, credit unions, sports and general knowledge issues.
