Credit Union Week celebrated

Thirty-four thousand members of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Credit Union Movement last week joined co-operators around the world in commemorating Credit Union Week.

A National Credit Union Convention was the highlight of this country’s activities held on International Credit Union Day last Thursday.{{more}}

According to a release from the SVG Co-operative Credit Union League, International Credit Union Day is a specific occasion calling attention to the impact of credit unions on the lives of millions of people. International Credit Union Day honours the gifts and achievements of the many pioneers who founded credit unions and their service groups.

The release stated it is also important to pay tribute to the many people who today continue to demonstrate the commitment to building new credit unions and further developing credit co-operatives.

The local Credit Union Movement currently comprised assets of over EC$140 million.
