Acting CE of Cable and Wireless Anthony Regisford, VP Networks and Data Services Les Ferdinand, Marketing Manager Elornic Joseph and Anthony Balcombe Manager Data and IS delivered the breaking news.
In the words of Mr. Regisford “Effective September 1st 2004, we are significantly lowering the price of our High-speed Internet access services and at the same time increasing the speed of the packages.”
With this new range of packages the company has changed the names of the plans offered to customers. A Cable & Wireless release says that since “ the use of the technical term ADSL is thought to be not customer friendly, High Speed Internet or Broadband is now preferred.
Customers already with a high speed Internet account will be automatically migrated to the package that matches their current plan. For example, a customer with the Ultra package would have paid $179 and will now pay $149 on the X256 plan but for double the speed.
Note also that the upload speed is doubled in every case. This means that customers will benefit immediately from the reduced prices and higher speeds.
Cable & Wireless says that for dialup Internet customers this is the best time to migrate to high speed Internet service. For the month of September (1st to 30th) a special promotion is offered to include free activation & installation ($180 value), free USB modem ($299 value) and free gifts of mouse pads or pens or bags. New accounts qualify for the special also. Customers upgrading on High Speed Internet (e.g. from X256 and X512) will not qualify for free modems.
