Western Carollers ‘jingle all the way’ with Police carolling crown

With well coordinated vocals and precise notes, it was no surprise when the Western Carollers were crowned champions at the Central Police Station in last Friday’s Police Carolling competition.{{more}}

Walking away with the top prize of $500 and other goodies, the well-dressed group won the best traditional song with their rendition of “Jingle Bells. They also took the overall title.

In another well-executed performance, the group sang “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” for their second song.

Headquarters Carollers, who had the crowd going with their catchy punch lines in their song “De Canteen” and “Go Tell It On the Mountain,” had to settle for second position.

Third place went to the new recruits of the Training School. They sang “Angels We Have Heard On High” and “Training School Blues”.

They also walked away with the prize for best original song and best speech.

The other groups were the Auxiliary Choir, who won the prize for being the best turned out group, Crime Busters of the Criminal Investigations Department, Traffic Angels, South Eastern Carollers, and the Training School.

In the junior category, the Western Carollers did the trick with their song “Deck the Halls”.

Second place went to the South Western Carollers with their song “Do You See What I See”, while Central Carollers had to settle for third position with “Today a Child is Born.”

The other groups in this category were South Central and South Rivers Carollers.

Other performances on the night came from Gazetted Officers of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force and the Avenues Dancers.
