Fourteen Ragga Soca artistes will come up against defending champion Delroy âFiremanâ Hooper tonight in the Finals of the 2011 Ragga soca competition.{{more}}
The finalists include a number of veteran and experienced performers, some of whom have already tasted victory both inside and out of the Ragga Soca arena.
Past winners include Shernelle âSkarpyonâ Williams, who will be performing âShe Tell Meâ, and 2009 winner and last yearâs road march champ Raeon âMaddzartâ Primus, who will perform âWhole Wide Worldâ.
Former road march winners Shertz âProblem Childâ James and Cornelius âPoorsahâ Williams are also in the finals; James singing âStick Onâ and Williams, also a past calypso monarch, doing â The Juiceâ.
Orande âBomaniâ Charles, a former Soca Monarch, will contend for the Ragga Soca title with his song âI Aint missingâ, and current Tobago Soca Queen Lornette âFya Empressâ Nedd will perform âSak Passiâ.
Other finalists include Daverne âElleganceâ Muckett with âTouch D Roadâ; Lyndon âLawyer Boyâ George with âPC Jumpingâ; Godwin âGAOâ Oliver performing âD Sheepâ; Danielle âDaneelâ Veira performing âBe Thereâ; Daria Primus with âCarnival Wuk Upâ; Dennis Bowman singing âIn The Middle Of Somethingâ; Charles âColumbianâ Villareal with âAction Timeâ and Johnny âJohnny Rebelâ Hall with âDancing Queenâ.
Tonightâs show will start at 9:00 and will take place at the Victoria Park.(JJ)
