Last Saturday evening saw the preliminary event taking place at the same venue, where six youngsters faced off. Deejays Traffic and Lil Flip of Chateaubelair and Sadique-One of Fitzhughes were beaten out of final showdown by Deejays Sample-X, Triple-X and Mixologist of Fitzhughes, Chateaubelair and Rose Bank, respectively. By popular demand, Sadique One will make an appearance at the April 5th event.
The Competition was organized by young Kevin Glasgow, of Chateaubelair, who told SEARCHLIGHT that the idea came about after he realized that there is a lot of rivalry between the youths from different areas in Chateaubelair. âSometimes there are confrontations that turn violent, so ah say to me-self we need to do something with all that negative energyâ, Glasgow said.
Glasgow said that he bounced the idea around and received positive feedback, so he went ahead and approached the venue owner and sponsors and his idea became a reality.
Bottlers Limited and The International Aquatic Club are the main sponsors of the event. The victorious Deejay will receive $800. Mobile phones and other prizes will also be up for grabs.
Veteran Deejay and club owner Joel âRas Nattyâ Francois told SEARCHLIGHT that he is pleased to see the first event turn out to be a success, âThe youth dem could get ah opportunity do something positive out ah disâ, he further stated. (AC)
