South Leeward Carnival to showcase rural beauty, talent
âRevitalizing Culture… A rural phenomenon!â thatâs the theme under which the South Leeward Carnival Committee is hosting this yearâs carnival activities.
The activities, which would be held in conjunction with the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) will run from June 22nd to the 24th 2007.{{more}}
The festivities begin with the launching and soca monarch show at 8pm and according to the organisers, registration forms for the first ever soca monarch competition can be collected from any member of Penniston Educational Sports and Cultural Organization (PESCO) or members of the South Leeward Carnival Committee.
The prestigious Miss South Leeward queen of carnival show takes place on Saturday 23rd from 7:30pm; while the street jump up from Campden Park bridge at âsweet spotâ to the Penniston bridge on Sunday June 25th.
The Committee through the Penniston Educational Sports and Cultural Organisation (PESCO) is also planning a workshop for students in the south leeward area.
Primary school children in the constituency will be targeted for mas design workshops and competition following their common entrance examinations.
Overall winners and selected students would also visit the various mas tents participating in our festival.
