Is it right for a young lady to take money from a man?

Hey Rosie,

My question is really simple; do you think it’s right for a young lady to take money from a man? Especially knowing that she has no interest in the man? I am having this argument with my best friend and I would like to hear what you think.{{more}}

Dear Opinon,

This is a simple, yet a very loaded question. Simply put, I don’t think a woman or a man, no matter her or his age, should take money from a man or a woman – especially if that person is hoping for more in the relationship than you are willing to give.

Sometimes men hope to gain a woman’s interest by buying her lots of extravagant gifts or giving her everything that she may request of him. Again, I truly don’t agree with this practice; why can’t you just date or hang out with a bunch of friends and get to know each other slowly, without any catches?

Taking money from a man or a woman who is interested in you and you not being very straightforward with them that you have NO interest in them is plain wrong. That is leading someone on and then this becomes an issue later on. It could lead to bad feelings, fights, even stalking.

Your friend should not do this at all; it is a bad practice and she can gain a reputation as a user. At the moment she is only thinking about the instant gratification and not how this can become a major issue in the long run.
