My boyfriend’s BFF is hitting on me

Hey Rosie,

Help me here; my boyfriend’s BFF is hitting on me and I can’t get him to stop! We are all in senior class together and I’ve known them both since freshman year of high school. It started off with little hints about liking my outfit and hair, so I shrugged it off.{{more}} But then one day, he tried to kiss me and I pushed him away and asked him if he’s crazy. He got angry and said if I said something, he will say that I hit on him! Rosie, this crap has been going on for three months now. I’ve never given in, but I’m so upset that he’s doing grime and trying to blackmail me! I love my boyfriend, but I am very upset; I haven’t told a soul either. What should I do?

Done

Dear Done,

I totally understand your position. Why should you be held as though you are a hostage to a lie?

Normally, I’d ask you if you had feelings for him? Or have you ever flirted with each other? But I’m going based on the fact that you are so offended by his blackmail, that the answer to both these questions is ‘no’. So, do the right thing and let your boyfriend know what’s going on.

Never let anyone hold things over your head like this. You guys are also very young too, but not too young to know this is a very dangerous game.

If your boyfriend feels betrayed by both of you, take a break and walk away. You have to be focused on your final year, my girl. College is aknocking; bigger and better things lay in wait. You can have a clean conscience that you weren’t bullied into doing the wrong thing!

Be strong.

Rosie
