Woman found dead in Jamaica could be missing Vincentian
NEWS FROM JAMAICA that a body discovered in Old England, Epping Forest, Manchester may be that of missing Vincentian Chrisanta “Chrissy” Browne is distressing for Josephine Charles-LaBorde.
Charles-LaBorde is Browne’s cousin, and she told SEARCHLIGHT on Monday, August 25, 2025 that although the details are pointing to the body likely being that of her 29-yearold family member (born June 9,1996) she is hoping that is not the case, and Browne eventually turns up alive.
Last week Thursday, August 21,2025, at about 12:05 p.m. Manchester police officers went to a house in Old England, Epping Forest, Manchester where they found the badly decomposed body of a woman.
The body was discovered in a one room wooded structure. The contents of the house were scattered about, pointing to a possible struggle, and Charles-LaBorde said that she knows her cousin was someone who would fight back if attacked.
A post-mortem was expected to be carried out on the body yesterday, Monday, August, 25, 2025.
Charles-LaBorde explained that her cousin, a mother of three, went to Jamaica in September, 2022, and that her last posts on social media were on TikTok on October 24, 2024, and on Facebook on October 31, 2024, around the same time family members stopped hearing from her.
Charles-LaBorde said Browne had gone to Jamaica to take a child to meet the child’s Jamaican father. Browne was asked to do the favour by the child’s mother, a Vincentian woman who was her (Browne’s) friend.
“I am praying that the remains are not her,” Charles-LaBorde said, while noting that before migrating to Jamaica, Browne lived at PoleYard, Arnos Vale. She said that police found no identification card (ID), passport nor anything to help identify the body.
