SVG sends 80-strong contingent to CARIFESTA XV
THE St Vincent and the Grenadines contingent to the 2025 Caribbean Festival of Arts ( CARIFESTA) began leaving in batches this week for Barbados, which is hosting the 2025 regional cultural and arts spectacle. The 80-strong contingent is a multitalented group comprising youth and seasoned performers, and it’s the biggest group from SVG to ever take part in CARIFESTA.
The first batch to the Caribbean’s premier cultural festival’s left these shores for Barbados on Wednesday, August, 20; some others left on Thursday, August, 21 and the remainder leave today, August, 22, 2025.
Among those in the first batch were Head of the Vincentian delegation and Artistic Director, Rodney Small; manager of the contingent, Ricardo “Ricky” Adams; and Director of Culture, Maxine Browne.
Small said prior to his departure that people at CARIFEST XV can expect, “a lot of greatness” from the Vincentian contingent.
“We have a lot of young people who are going to be representing and a mixture of some middle-aged people, and some older people who have been in the creative and cultural industries for quite a while, not just only on stage, but we also have persons who are going to be a part of the Grand Market, which is the business aspect of the creative and cultural industries,” Small pointed out.
