Boom FM 106.9 DJ shot dead near radio station
THE DATE, August, 16, has bad vibes for many longstanding Paul’s Avenue residents who, over the weekend, observed the third murder committed in their community (on August 16) over the last few years.
Gunshots rang out in Paul’s Avenue something after 12:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, August, 16,2025, and when they died down, disc jockey, Gasroy “Swagga” Fergusson, went down in history as this country’s 25th homicide for 2025. Another man was also shot, but survived.
Fergusson, a known fixture on the Paul’s Avenue block where he was shot, was said to have been hanging out in the area as he usually does, when a black car drove up. Gunmen emerged from the vehicle and began shooting at the men who were hanging out in the vicinity of a shop in which Jawanza “Sanga” Fraser was shot and killed on September, 13, 2024, Black Friday.
Fergusson who was employed at BOOM 106.9 FM, is said to have been initially shot in the leg and fell, one of the gunmen reportedly pursued the second man who was shot in his hand and back. After unsuccessfully pursuing the fleeing man, the gunman is said to have returned to where Fergusson fell and shot the DJ in the head multiple times. At least two people who were in the shop where Fraser was shot and killed in 2024, are also said to have fled from the gunmen.
