84 year old Vincentian bodybuilder laid to rest in T&T
A Vincentian bodybuilder who bagged a victory in the Trinidad and Tobago Body Builders and Fitness Federation’s over 70s Championships two years ago, was laid to rest last week.
Urias McHutcherson, 84, also known as ‘London’, ‘Strongman’ and ‘Bells,’ died in Trinidad on July, 31, 2025, and was laid to rest in the two- island republic on August, 7, 2025.
McHutcherson, who was the oldest competing bodybuilder in Trinidad and Tobago, was described as a ‘specimen of a man’ as he paid very careful attention to his body.
Born in 1941, Mc Hutcherson was a resident of Dickson Village, Georgetown, where he spent his teenage years following his father wherever he went.
When Mc Hutcherson grew older, he entered the workforce as a teacher at the Dickson Methodist School, then began serving in the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force in 1960 and resigned as a Police Constable in 1964.
At age 23, in the same year of his resignation, Mc Hutcherson moved to Trinidad and Tobago where he started competing in body building.
Throughout the years, he made several appearances in Barbados, Guyana, St Maarten and Saint Lucia where he placed among the top three positions in many of the body building championships.
In 1980, Mc Hutcherson won the title of “Best Built Man” and in 1998, he won the COURTS Classic in Trinidad.
At the age of 77, Mc Hutcherson placed first in the over-70 Masters division of the Trinidad and Tobago Bodybuilders Federation Senior National Championships in 2018.
