Spiceman lights up Emancipation Cricket, makes Kesrick ‘eat grass’

The Spiceman, Andre Fletcher, kept the best for last as he lit up the Arnos Vale Cricket Grounds on Sunday evening, August 3, 2025. In a display of batting fireworks, including his no look pulls, he propelled his team, the Grenadines Whalers, to capture the first championship victory in the inaugural Emancipation Cricket Festival, July 31 – August 3, 2025. It was the finals between the Kingstown Kings and the Grenadines Whalers before a massive crowd who stayed until the last ball was bowled, despite the late hour, and many having to report to their places of employment the following day.

Fletcher hammered 124 off 66 balls, sharing an 80-run partnership with Asif Hooper who made 17, and supported by Othneil Lewis, who also chipped in with 17, saw the Whalers reach a challenging 216 for 5 in their 20 overs. Extras totalled 32, made up of 2 leg-byes, 26 wides, and 4 no-balls.

Bowling for the Kingstown Kings, Trevian Mathews, 1 for 10; Obus Peinaar, 1 for 20; and Imran Joseph 1 for 34, were the only wicket takers.
