Man shot at Pole Yard is Grenadian wanted at home by police

A 29-year-old man who ran from assailants and got assistance from the police close to a medical academic facility was found to be a wanted man in Grenada. The police said Shakim Akin Thomas, also known as “Shark” was walking in the direction of Pole Yard, Arnos Vale, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 around 8:10 p.m when he was approached by an unknown assailant who opened fire, striking him in his hand, upper thigh, and lower thigh. Despite his injuries, Thomas managed to escape to the nearby St. James Medical School, where he encountered police officers and received immediate assistance. As the police were investigating, it turned out that Thomas, a Grenadian national, is wanted at home. The Grenada police in a Face Book post said Thomas was wanted in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on June, 14, 2025.

It appears though, that the stabbing incident may not be the only offence for which Thomas is wanted. The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said in a release on the Thomas shooting incident, that the Grenada national was “wanted by law enforcement authorities there in connection with several offences,” and that “Grenadian authorities issued a regional wanted notice for his arrest in May 2023”.

Following the Tuesday night Pole Yard shooting, Thomas was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, and he underwent surgery on Wednesday, July 23. He is said to be in stable condition at the health facility and may soon be discharged.
