Educator, and model fall in love with SVG, looking to invest

A saying goes, “if you build a great experience, customers tell each other about that, word of mouth is very powerful”.

And word of mouth is exactly what brought potential investor, Curtis Walters and his partner, model, Elitha Degree to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) last week.

The duo, who hail from the United States of America (USA), stayed at Young Island, rented a car and drove throughout the length and breadth of mainland St Vincent visiting sites like La Soufriere volcano, Black Point tunnel, Fort Duvernette, Table Rock in Vermont, and Dark View Falls.

Walters told SEARCHLIGHT he learnt about St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) from a family member who visited and spoke about the pleasant experiences they had here- from staying at the Young Island Resort to interacting with Vincentian service providers.

Walters said as a result of the positive reviews, he decided to visit with his partner Talitha, and they have fallen in love with the country. Coincidentally, the duo both have roots in Belize and are of Garifuna descent, making this a natural bonding with Yurumei, the homeland of the Garifuna.

Now, Walters who is an educator with a background in forensic science, says he is hoping to invest in a lab in the country and is actively pursuing the business venture. He hopes to return to SVG next month to liaise with the relevant authorities in an attempt to open a modern laboratory facility here.

“I learnt about St Vincent from family and wanted to get the experience myself. I love the island. I stayed at Young Island, it’s beautiful,” Walters told SEARCHLIGHT on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
