Police seize illegal rifle and machine gun

As it continues to crack down on the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said it netted two such illegal weapons ammunition at the weekend.

In the wee hours of Friday, June 13, 2025, acting on creditable intelligence, officers attached to the Rapid Response Unit conducted a targeted operation in the Diamond community, which resulted in the seizure of two prohibited firearms and a quantity of ammunition.

The police said they successfully recovered:

One (1) AK-47 rifle with 19 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition; and one Uzi submachine gun with 40 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

“This operation represents a significant step in the ongoing effort to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and protect lives and property throughout” SVG, the police noted in the release.
