Another man charged in Belmont triple homicide
Exactly one month after a triple homicide occurred in Belmont, a man of the same community has been charged in the shooting death of the three victims- a woman and two men.
Leon John, 28, who is also facing three counts of attempted murder, appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Colin John yesterday, June, 16, 2025, charged that on May 16, 2025, at Belmont, with malice aforethought, he caused the death of Leslyn Davis, Demeon Cumberbatch, and Haynesly Browne by shooting them about their bodies.
John was not required to plea to the indictable offences, and bail was not open to him.
John was also charged with intent to commit the offence of murder on 38 year-old- labourer, Haydon Ballantyne; 68-year-old chef, Lorna Davis; and 30-year-old labourer, Bancroft Abbot, on the same date and place by doing an act which is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the offence.
