Snagg reflects as he makes way for Chevonne in Southern Grenadines
“Today is a very special day, not only for the new candidate, but a special day for me because I have been waiting for this day for a very long time.”
This pronouncement came on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from Edwin Snagg, the long-standing but unsuccessful candidate for the Unity Labour Party (ULP) in the constituency of the Southern Grenadines.
“I was waiting for this day for a very long time. It will be short and it will be simple because today is not about me … today, there will be a new kid on the block,” Snagg said at the auditorium of the Union Island Secondary School where a new candidate was being presented to contest the seat for the ULP in the upcoming general election.
Snagg officially passed the baton to Chevonne Stewart who will come up against the New Democratic Party’s Terrance Ollivierre, the current parliamentary representative.
“Today, I go with grace-no pun intended- because I have seen somebody come forward, and whose hand I will hold over the next couple of months. Until the bell is called … I will be there with her and for her,” Snagg declared.
“In addition to that, I am the chairman of the Unity Labour Party. I am waiting for this victory. I am waiting specially for the victory here in the Southern Grenadines.”
Snagg reminisced on his journey in the political wilderness in St. Vincent and the Grenadines which began 28 years ago when he first climbed the ULP platform in 1997.
