Tense situation in Glen following chopping death of 21-year-old

THE COMMUNITY OF GLEN is still trying to come to grips with the violent death of one its own with the circumstances made more difficult by the fact that another resident has been arrested and charged with the murder.

The May 14, 2025 chopping death of Ronaldo Adams, age 21, has left many in the community feeling shocked, angry, and also concerned about the potential of a feud developing.

RESIDENTS REVEALED Adams was first chopped walking past this shed and later ran for refuge into a home more than 200m away

The accused, Deondre McDonald, age 26, has since appeared in court charged with the murder of Adams and has been remanded to prison.

The gruesome death has sparked much debate online after news broke that the source of the altercation between the accused and the deceased stemmed from a quantity of plumrose. However, in an interview with SEARCHLIGHT, Glen residents who knew both men well, said plumrose was not the root cause of the disagreement. “There is a lot of stories going around in the paper, talking about plumrose and how he [Adams] get kill for plumrose. That is what people hear and they run with it, but that is not how it [argument] start,” a resident told SEARCHLIGHT, and went on to speak about an argument the day prior to the killing, involving money claimed to have been owed by various persons, including the victim.

The resident said he believed the matter had been done away with having spoken to the apparent debtor.

The statements circulating about Adams’ death being connected to plumrose stemmed from comments allegedly made about restricting access to a plumrose tree located just outside of the barbershop McDonald operated from at the shop at the Glen complex.

Residents say that Adams had in fact, been picking plumrose from the tree to sell, but the owner of the property never kicked up a fuss about it, and they did not see why anyone else should. SEARCHLIGHT was informed that on the night of the 14th, Adams was first chopped on his back at the area outside the ‘school gap’ while walking past a shed on the roadside.

Adams reportedly ran from the school gap, down to the main road, turned right onto the Glen main road and ran along the stretch of road into the same home where the plumrose tree is located- a distance estimated to be over 200 meters.
