‘2 Kool Chris’ apologises to court, bench warrant vacated
A BENCH WARRANT issued for the arrest of Christopher ‘2Kool Chris’ Jones was vacated after he apologised to the Senior Magistrate for failing to appear in court for the continuation of his trial on a wounding charge.
Jones, a popular Disc Jockey/radio announcer, was meant to appear in court on May 19, 2025 for the continuation of his trial. However, his lawyer, Grant Connell appeared in court without him, and informed Senior Magistrate, Tammika McKenzie, that Jones was at the time in Tortola and was unable to return to St Vincent in time for his trial, due to an issue with his flight.
The Senior Magistrate requested proof of Connell’s claim and issued a bench warrant for Jones’ arrest, as well as a summons for Jones’ surety, Luke Boyea, to appear on June 27.
However, Connell returned to court the following day, May, 20, with Jones, and Jones presented his travel schedule to the court. However, the Senior Magistrate told him that the schedule was not what she requested.
Jones was then called to tell the court the reason for his absence. Jones said that he left St Vincent on May, 16, for Tortola and had intended to return to St Vincent on May, 19.
He said on arrival at the airport in Tortola, he was informed by a flight agent that the plane had already left, and that there were no flights leaving the Territory to head to Antigua, then to St Vincent. He explained that he was late because the flight was scheduled to leave at 11:00 a.m, but left earlier than the designated time.
Jones further told the court that the flight agent said that if he had got another flight to Antigua, he would not arrive in St Vincent until Tuesday, May, 20 “hence the reason why I got here late.”
