Blossom Blocks camp helps to transform youngsters
A GROUP OF CHILDREN, who learnt about their mental health, personal branding and communication at The Valeo Experience Transformative “Blossom Blocks” Easter Camp, 2025 have expressed excitement over the camp’s return.
Founder of the Valeo Experience, Dr Jozelle Miller,a psychologist for the past two decades, said she has not has experience with most of the topics that were addressed at the two year old camp though she has seen the struggles of young people with these issues in her line of work.
For five hours everyday, between April 7 and 11, 2025, at the Sunset Shores Hotel, 24 children aged between 12 and 16 years were engaged in a series of workshops, hands-on activities, and creative sessions. They were engaged in a line-up of presentations on: Identifying and Knowing Who You Are; Branding and Self-Image; Goal Setting; Social Media Awareness and Cyberbullying; Social Graces and Dining Etiquette, the Role of Music in Development; Depression and Anxiety; Age-Appropriate Communication; Decision making and Moral Reasoning; Leadership; Sexuality; Managing Anger, conflict & Bullying; and Art and Creative Expression.
Miller told SEARCHLIGHT that as the days unfolded, parents shared how excited their children were with the activities.
“They said that each day the kids came home, they were just simply bubbling with excitement. Obviously, at the start of the camp, everybody came in fresh so there was some apprehension, not knowing what to expect.”
Destiny Bowens, shared on The Valeo Experience Facebook page that she “has a lot of anger issues” and has now learnt how to manage them.
