Man says hacked Facebook page being used to send death threats
A MAN, who said his Facebook account has been hacked and is being used to send death threats to people that he does not know, is fearful that his life is at risk.
Yesterday, August 19, 2024, Michael Glasgow spoke with SEARCHLIGHT about a Facebook account that bears his face and his son’s name, and is being used to send death threats to people he said he does not know, and to defame women about their sexual health.
Glasgow said that he created a Facebook account for his seven year old son to use at his leisure, but claimed the account has been inactive for over five years as he had forgotten the password.
He said he was surprised on Friday, August 16, 2024, when he received messages from friends enquiring about some photos that were being posted to his son’s Facebook account captioned with threatening and defamatory statements.
“People coming and telling me way kind of stupidness I sending give them about murder and kill and all kinda thing; and how me go send this man and that man to kill and all kinda thing,” he told SEARCHLIGHT.
Glasgow said that he wants to make it clear that he is not the one who is making these threats, nor is he involved in any such activities.
“Me ain’t want nobody come and shoot me down for nothing at all what I ain’t know about,” he said.
He reiterated that because he is unable to access the account, he cannot shut it down. Glasgow said he believes someone has gained unauthorised access to the account and is responsible for the posts.
He said that he told his friend to message the Facebook account when she enquired about the posts that were being made.
“She text me and the person replied to her, so I telling she is someone hopped into me thing so I don’t know what going on.”
“The way Vincy going right now, you don’t know what could happen to you…them days you have to know what you doing,” Glasgow said, adding that he feels threatened by the criminal acts that are being carried out in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
He said also that someone took a screen shot of the posts and sent them to him. However, when some people tried to visit the page, they were unable to do so.
The posts include photos of men, with threatening captions, and several photos of women with defamatory statements. He said that one of his long time friends contacted him about a photo of her that was published on the page stating that she was HIV positive. He said that he has reported the matter to the police but was informed that they could not do anything about it at this stage.
