Schuyler Francois crowned Miss SVG Teen 2024
SCHUYLER FRANCOIS, the winner of the 2024 Miss St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Teen Pageant has her eyes set to compete in Miss SVG contest 2028.
Francois, a student of the Girls’ High School (GHS), won the keenly contested pageant held last Saturday August 10, 2024 at the La Vue Hotel and Beach Club in Villa.
Francois took top points in two of the four judged categories- talent and evening gown, while she had over 33,000 votes to take the People’s Choice Award which was not judged.
The pageant which had nine contestants saw in second place, Division of Nursing Education student and Gibson Corner resident Milan Compton. She also won two of the four judged categories- best promotional speech and interview.
In third place was New Grounds resident Lori Welsh, a former student of the Division of Technical and Vocational Education of the St Vincent Community College (SVCCC).
After being crowned by last year’s winner, Abigail Ross, Francois, a 15 year old dancer said she was “very excited and very honoured to be the queen”.
Asked if she expected to win, she answered, “absolutely not”. This was Francois’ first pageant.
“My plans are to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines the best way I can,” the daughter of Rashell Chance and Adrian Francois told SEARCHLIGHT.
The other pageant contestants were D’Shanti Francis, Shemora Cuffy, Antonicia Haynes, Ronela Richards, Tinekah Anthony and Louanya Billingy.
The pageant focused on sustainable tourism and had as its main coordinator, Angenella Young.
Young, on Saturday, urged the business community to support initiatives of this nature as they help to boost the self-esteem and self-worth of young women.
