Tears shed as children of Park Hill murder victim sing at funeral

There was not a pair of dry eyes at the Ebenezer Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church at Belle Vue on Sunday May 5, 2024, when the daughters of murder victim, Marvin Barker sang at his funeral.

The two children Janiah, 5, and her sister Shaniah, 4, attempted to do a tribute to their father in song. Marvin’s daughters were accompanied on stage by his mother, Petran Barker. The moment the children started walking towards the stage, mourners started shouting and screaming.

But when the children echoed the words “ I love you Daddy,” mourners were unable to contain their emotions.

Marvin’s daughters attempted to sing ‘I Love You Lord’, but their voices were drowned out by the screams and wails of those in the church.

In the tribute paid to him, persons spoke about how much Marvin loved his two daughters. He also had a matter pending in which he was attempting to get custody of his daughters.

Marvin’s remains were laid to rest at the Park Hill cemetery.
