Trio suspected in disappearance of US couple

Three Grenadians whose faces have been plastered across international media for being suspects in the disappearance and “presumed death” of a United States couple have been remanded for sentencing on immigration charges.

Ron Mitchell, 30; Trevor Robertson, 25; and Atiba Stanisclaus 22, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Colin John on Monday February, 26, 2024 where they pleaded guilty to four immigration charges committed on February, 21, 2024 at Petit Bordel.

The charges read that being a prohibited immigrant the men did enter the state by boat without a passport; did enter the state of St Vincent and the Grenadines other than at a port of entry; did enter the state by boat and disembarked without the consent of an immigration officer; and to wit knowingly and wilfully allowed themselves to be landed as a prohibited immigrant.

Senior Magistrate, John adjourned the matter to the next Monday March, 4, 2024, for the reading of the facts. The men are remanded into custody until then. Upon leaving the courtroom, the Grenadians averted their heads and hid their faces to keep from being photographed.

The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force(RSVGPF), held a press conference following the men’s arraignment to address the disappearance of two United States citizens, and the alleged involvement of these three men in the matter.

During the briefing, Superintendent of Police and Head of the Public Relations Department of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force(RSVGPF), Junior Simmons said that a joint regional investigation is being undertaken between the RSVGPF and the Royal Grenada Police Force into the disappearance and presumed death of United States citizens, Ralph Hendry and his common-law wife, Kathy Brandel.

The three men escaped custody while being held by the Grenada police on charges of rape, robbery with violence and other criminal offences.
