PM returns tomorrow from G77 Summit

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves is due to return home this weekend following his attendance at the Third South Summit of the Non-aligned Movement and G-77 plus China held January 21-22.

The Prime Minister headed a four-member St Vincent and the Grenadines delegation to the Summit in the Uganda capital, Kampala, under the theme: Leaving No One Behind: A Pack For The Future.

“ I have studied the Outcome Document of this Summit and St Vincent and the Grenadines unequivocally supports its contents,” the Prime Minister’s statement to the gathering said.

“It advances immensely the South-South Agenda and the cause of humanity globally…,” is also noted.

While in the East Africa country, the Prime Minister took time to visit the University where he did doctoral studies decades ago.

“Today [January 23] I returned to Makerere University in Uganda where I spent about a year as a doctoral student almost 52 years ago. The outpouring of love by the faculty was quite moving,” a post on the Prime Minister’s Facebook page states.

A brief statement from his office read in part “The Prime Minister was accorded a tour of the campus, where he met the faculty and students and even visited his former dormitory.”

A signpost on the premises of the University reads: Makerere University We Build For The Future since 1922.

The Prime Minister and his delegation are expected back in the State tomorrow, Saturday January, 27.
