Inmates sing their hearts out at Prison Concert

A song written and performed by a former inmate of His Majesty’s Prisons visibly touched many people who turned out last Sunday, December 17 for the annual Prison Concert.

‘Consequences’, written by Jason Delpesche speaks of the consequences of not paying heed to the advice and warnings of family members, causing him to land in prison.

Held under grey skies, the concert was witnessed by friends, family members, well-wishers, the curious, amongst others, who cheered the performances by the inmates who were accompanied by the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force Band.

The throng of persons crowded into the Solidarity In Action Car park on Bay Street, Kingstown to witness the staging of the 2023 Prison Concert, left satisfied that the 23 performances were another indication of the depth of talent with the inmate population.

Among the performances was a skit titled ‘Immigration’ performed by a group of inmates, a dance and a performance by a choir.

Patrons were satisfied with the new venue as it afforded the patrons more space. The car park also allowed for food and drink stalls, manned by prison officers and inmates, which was not possible at the former venue in the courthouse yard, next door to the prisons.Inmates sing their hearts out at Prison Concert
