Four Vincentians now serving on ECSC

When Senior Magistrate, Rickie Burnett takes up his appointment as a judge on the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) on April 3, he will bring to four, the number of Vincentians serving as judges on the regional court.

He will join Justices Sonya Young, Colin Williams and Brian Cottle.

Justice Burnett is a former Senior Magistrate and is assigned to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), Justice Young, who had been serving on the Belize Supreme Court, was appointed to the ECSC on February 1, 2023. A former Chief Magistrate in SVG, Young is assigned to the British Virgin Islands.

Justice Colin Williams is assigned to Antigua and Barbuda. He is a former Director of Public Prosecutions in SVG and was appointed from March 1, 2021.

Justice Cottle, who has been longest on the bench, was appointed in 2007. He, like Burnett, is assigned to SVG.

The other judges serving on the bench in SVG are Justices Birnie Stephenson, Esco Henry and Angelica Teelucksingh.
