Pastor rejects allegation of indecent assault

A SELF-PROCLAIMED pastor/prophet who received bail yesterday on a charge of indecent assault has spoken about the procedures of his arrest and time in custody as a “good experience”.

“It is an allegation and it is false. I can tell you that it’s not true and I know God will defend me and I give God thanks and praise,” Jason Providence told the following of his Life by Faith Ministries Facebook page shortly after being released on bail yesterday, June 23.

The popular figure had appeared before the Family Court, represented by lawyer, Kay Bacchus-Baptiste and maintained innocence to a January, 18 charge of indecent assault.

He is said to be set to return before the court on October 3.

His lawyer was contacted by SEARCHLIGHT shortly after her client’s court appearance. She related that her client has put forward that he was set up and was in the process of filing a defamation suit before

this charge.

“I’m gonna do my best to do my job to defend him of this offence which he says he’s absolutely not guilty of. He’s a very outstanding man in his community doing work for his church and for his God and so I intend to put my best foot forward in defending him,” she stated.

The prophet/pastor is known for a series that films documenting the supposed casting out of demons and which is highlighted on the Faith by Life Ministries page where they garner hundreds of views and comments, many reflecting adulation for him.

“It’s just a little bit sad that the court date has been pushed so far. I was hoping that we would have had an earlier court date so we can get rid of this matter as soon as possible,” Providence said during a live from the page that had gathered over 1000 comments in a very short time. He also mentioned during the 23 minute plus video, after speaking about John the Baptist, that “if the will of God means that sometimes we have to suffer afflictions then we just go through the afflictions and we smile.”

“Now something the devil said to me last night while I was inside of the cell. The devil said to me, God has abandoned you. That’s what he said.

I could have seen the devil’s face and he said to me God has abandoned you,” he submitted, saying that he responded by saying that God will never leave.

At another point he praised the police officers for the way they treated him and spoke about getting finger prints done and his picture taken for the “first time”.

“But it was a good experience and I learned from it because… I keep thinking about the Apostles, I keep thinking about Jesus,” he commented.

The charge that he is facing is sexual in nature, and Providence mentioned his wife more than once during the live. He said that they have been married for 12 years.

They have organized an event to “stand for Jesus” to take place on Saturday morning and travel to communities on both the Leeward and Windward sides of the mainland.
