Man hacked to death in Greiggs
Family members of a Lauders man who was hacked to death sometime after 3 am Saturday September 28 refused, on Monday, to comment about the incident.
Zannie “Snakes” Edwards, 24, was chopped about his body and died on the spot in Greiggs. Reports are that Zannie and his friend, Sam Thomas, were hanging out when they were attacked by a cutlass wielding man.
Thomas was chopped in the neck but survived.
SEARCHLIGHT caught up with members of Zannie’s family on Monday at the morgue of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH). Among the group was the mother of the deceased who only offered that Zannie was the oldest of her four children.
One of Zannie’s cousins, who preferred to remain anonymous said her relative was a quiet person who loved dancing and worked hard. She said he farmed and did odd jobs for living.
She told SEARCHLIGHT that none of the family members were there when the incident took place so they could not talk about it.
She however offered that Zannie and his friend were involved in an argument with someone and when they were on their way home, they were ambushed.
