Christmas Express gives tours around Kingstown every morning during Nine Mornings

The Christmas Express is pulling into the Kingstown station every morning before Christmas, and it is being lauded as one of the best ways to enjoy Nine Mornings.

The Chairman of the St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Nine Mornings committee, Michael Peters said that he would recommend that patrons of the festival hop on to the brand new addition, ‘The Nine Mornings Train’.

“I have been following all of the pictures and comments on Facebook, and persons … love the ride,” and have been recommending it to their friends, Peters disclosed.

The Nine Mornings Train departs thrice every morning, between 4 am and 6 am, and at a price of $2, it allows persons to experience, “an open deck ride around Kingstown to the sounds of the Starlift Steel Orchestra.”

The route begins at Heritage Square, continues along Bay Street, right on to Higginson Street, then another right to Back Street and ends again at Heritage Square; it takes about 30 minutes to complete. The maximum capacity of passengers on the ride is 30 persons.

“The Nine Mornings train seems to have been a big hit this year because persons are excited about it, and persons have been going on the ride, which is an innovative idea that people have welcomed,” Peters stated, adding that it has been particularly popular with visitors.

“I would say it’s one of the best ways to enjoy the Nine Mornings, a train ride around Kingstown, to the sounds of the Starlift steel orchestra. How else can you enjoy the Nine Mornings?,” the Chairman observed.

The Nine Mornings festival started last Sunday December 16, and will run until Christmas Eve, with festivities being held all around the country starting at 4 am. The festival stretches far to the Grenadines, Stubbs, Rose Hall, Fitzhughes, Owia, Troumaca, and Carriere to name a few areas.

This evening, there will be Community Singing in Bridgetown from 8 pm, and the ‘Nine Nights’ Steel Pan Night at the Botanic Gardens at 6pm.

Previously there have been the ‘Tightest Pants’ competition in Carriere and the ‘School Clothes Morning’ in Barrouallie on Tuesday, ‘Christmas Bingo’ in Questelles, and ‘Three Mornings’ in Mustique on Monday, and many others.

Peters is happy at the scope of the Nine Mornings festival, and indicates, “From all the reports that we have been having around the country, there have been good support for all the Nine Mornings, folks have been coming out in large numbers, and the programs have been quite well received.”

The Chairman stated that the Christmas festival is, “something that Vincentians can be extremely proud about.”
