Showcasing the section ‘Ethiopia’, from their presentation Expo Zaragoza, at the controversial Mas on the Move show on Monday at Victoria Park, players were able to nudge Guinness Y De Lima HITZ FM 103.7 Blondie Bird and Friends into second position.

Bird’s interpretation of ‘Breadfruit and Jack Fish’, from the presentation Cuisine, relegated First Caribbean WE FM KBB Shipping Singer Lynx presentation of ‘Showgirls’ from the presentation ‘Do You See What I See’ to third.

Players’ presentation began with the Queen of Sheba, portrayed by a masquerader, being carried on stage by four of her servants.Eleven of the twelve registered bands paraded across the stage for the judges and spectators, in what is expected to be a prelude to the Mardi Gras action, scheduled to take place at the Victoria on Tuesday.

Players are the defending Band of the Year Champions, aiming for their fourth straight victory, when they head into the Victoria Park for Mardi Gras on Tuesday.

This was followed by close to sixty revelers taking the stage brightly decorated in the red, gold and green colors of the African continent, where Ethiopia is located.

The revelers, also dressed in leopard skin, jigged and jumped their way into the hearts of the small but appreciative crowd at the Victoria Park, receiving the approval of the judges in the process.

Blondie Bird and Friends’ portrayal of this country’s national dish was also a crowd favourite, with the predominantly pink and white feathers of the Showgirls being a hit with especially the men in the audience.

Digicel Nelson Bloc’s presentation of ‘Freaks’ from their 2009 effort ‘Future Shock’ held on to the fourth position, while ‘Razzmatazz’ from Heineken Dragons took the fifth place.
