Magistrate takes swipe at papers

Senior Magistrate Donald Browne is of the opinion that the media is targeting him.{{more}}

The Magistrate made his feelings clear on Monday at the Kingstown Magistrates’ Court while addressing the matter of four Venezuelan men whose lawyer argued for their charge to be

dismissed. “I can’t do that. I want to stay within my bounds, since the media has been portraying me for something I’m not,” Browne said.

“It’s a pity I have to pay to read these papers. We should get them free. And if I let the men go, the media will wipe the floor with me, just like how they have been doing for the past weeks,” he said.

Browne has been making headlines in relation to his sentencing in recent ammunition and drug related cases.
