Bebe, who was shot and killed by her father Tom “Dick” Sutherland on May 23 at Big Sand Beach in Sandy Bay, received a very emotional send off by hundreds of her schoolmates, their parents, teachers, representatives from the Ministry of Education and Area Representative Montgomery Daniel.

Also present at Bebe’s funeral was her sister Kimberly who was also shot but managed to survive, and her mom Wandalyn.

The mourners gathered at the Georgetown Wesleyan Holiness Church for a stirring service then headed to the Georgetown cemetery where Bebe was laid to rest.

Both Wandalyn and Kimberly, too emotional to be at the grave side were comforted by family members.

Through their tears, students of the Sandy Bay Anglican School who were present at the grave performed a rendition of the school song as they bid a final farewell to Bebe, who turned six just one week before she was killed.

On May 23 this year, days after a confrontation between Dick and Wandalyn, Sutherland removed his daughters from the school, took them to the secluded Big Sand Beach where he shot them before turning the gun on himself.

Many mourners were calling for the authorities to take some action, and not let ‘Poor Bebe’ die in vain.(JJ}
