The New Year has begun on a sour note with the first murder of the year already being recorded.

Police are investigating the shooting death of 14-year-old Cheruice Trotman of Arnos Vale on Saturday, January 6.{{more}}

According to police, at about 12.45 a.m. Trotman was at the home of Glenda Sam in Paul’s Avenue when she decided to leave that house to go to another house in the same yard. It was reported that while she was making her way out of the house, the young girl received a single gunshot wound to the left side of her head.

The teenager was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Trotman however succumbed to her injury three days later. So far police have questioned several persons in connection with the shooting. No one has been arrested.
