• CRUICKSHANK: I’LL USE 2 VEHICLES IF I GET BACK IN

Former government minister, Allan Cruickshank, who served for a period of 17 years under the New Democratic Party (NDP) administration unrepentantly told supporters of the NDP at Dickson Village last Saturday, if he ever becomes a government minister again he will not be using one government vehicle this time; instead he will be using two.{{more}}

In 2001, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves promised the nation that no minister of government would use any government vehicle for personal purposes under his regime. At the time, he bashed the NDP administration and especially Cruickshank for this practice.

Cruickshank argued that he will be using two vehicles because the Prime Minister uses five.

SEARCHLIGHT has ascertained that Prime Minister Dr. Gonsalves’ entourage includes the vehicle that transports the Prime Minister, a Rapid Response Unit pickup truck and another jeep that carries members of his security team, bringing the total to three vehicles. Prior to the Prime Minister informing the country that a threat was made on his life a few months ago, he was escorted by a police outrider, which was followed by the Prime Minister’s vehicle.

“I am saying that there is nothing written anywhere that any Prime Minister or Governor-General could use vehicles and a minister can’t. Tell them I say so,” Cruickshank retorted.
