Stores Clerk bonded for stabbing tires of vehicle parked outside his workplace

A stores clerk, who punched another man’s vehicle tires while the vehicle was parked outside his workplace, has told a Senior Magistrate that “ a work is my second home” and if he is disrespected at his home, he will retaliate.

Ronnie Williams appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Tammika McKenzie, on July, 10, 2025 where he pleaded guilty that on May, 13, 2025 at Granby Street, Kingstown, without lawful excuse, he damaged the left rear and front tires of a motor vehicle valued at EC$500.00, the property of Leroy Rock of Redemption Sharpes intending to damage such property.

On the date in question at around 11:30 a.m, Rock parked his car in a space outside of Home Collection store number 2, that is located along Granby Street.

While parking near the establishment, Rock was confronted by several workers from the store about the parking. Notably, the area is not marked out for designated parking.

Rock left the vehicle intact to attend a meeting nearby. Hours later, he returned to the vehicle and was about to leave when he heard an unfamiliar sound coming from the left side of the vehicle.

As a result, Rock stopped the car and investigated the sound. Upon examining the left side of the vehicle, Rock observed that both tires were completely flat.

After closer inspection, Rock also noticed that one of the tires had a large cut while the other had a hole. As a result, he reported the matter at the Criminal Investigations Department.

PC 1007 Pope entertained the report and visited the scene with another officer, who photographed the damage done to the car.

Investigations were carried out into the matter. A lamp pole, which is located about 15 feet away, was retrofitted with CCTV camera.

The footage from the camera showed what appeared to be a store employee, walking to the left side of the vehicle, taking an unknown object from his pocket and stabbing the tires.

Williams was arrested on suspicion for the offence, and was taken into custody. He was cautioned, interviewed and gave a statement admitting to the offence.

Williams was subsequently charged for the offence of damage to property.

“…to me a work is my second home. If you disrespect me in my home, I’mma retaliate,” Williams told the Senior Magistrate, after saying that he is not a troublesome person and does not usually do “these kind of stuff.”

He further said that he is sad about the situation.

The Senior Magistrate noted that Williams had one conviction from 2023. She then bonded him for six months in the sum of $900 if he runs afoul of the law in that time, he will serve four months in prison.

He was also ordered to pay $500 by August, 13, 2025, in default, he will spend nine months in prison. A sum of $100 was ordered to be paid forthwith. Senior Magistrate McKenzie noted that Williams did not think to use an alternative method to deflate the tires.

“I over react,” Williams told the Senior Magistrate, who ordered him to go to Marion House for anger management classes.
