Charge reduced from murder to manslaughter, Eros Cain granted bail
After spending approximately six months on remand, a chauffeur who had been charged with murder has now been released on bail for manslaughter.
Eros Cain appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate, Colin John yesterday, July 3, 2025 where he was granted bail for manslaughter.
Cain was formerly charged that on January, 2, 2025 at Glen, with malice aforethought, he caused the death of Andrew “Gringo” Williams of Fountain by an unlawful act.
However, based on submissions made by lawyer, Grant Connell, the Senior Magistrate concluded that the elements of murder were not present, based on the evidence presented by the prosecution.
Therefore, Cain is now charged with manslaughter instead of murder. Prosecutor, Renrick Cato did not object to his bail. Cain was therefore granted bail in the sum of $20,000.00 with one surety. He is to surrender all travel documents, and stop notices were ordered placed at all points of entry and exit.
Cain will stand trial for manslaughter at the High Court.
