A laborer of Rillan Hill was brought before the court to answer to the charge of assaulting a Layou teen.

Calroy Lavia, age 22, was charged with striking the 17-year-old student on his head with a cutlass and pushing him against a wall.  The charge stems from an incident that occurred in Rillan Hill around 12 pm on August 18, 2023.

On August 22, Lavia made an appearance in the Kingstown Magistrate Court where he pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm.

He was fined $300 EC forthwith or one month in prison.
