Man pleads not guilty to stealing items valued $2,220

A young labourer of Diamond accused of stealing a quantity of items valued at EC$2,220 pleaded not guilty when he appeared in the Mesopotamia Magistrates Court last Friday, May 27.

Michael Richards, 24 was arrested on May 26 and charged with the offence of burglary.

Richards is alleged to have entered the Huffles Ranch Bar as a trespasser and stole one blue and white icebox valued at EC$500, one black Nixon binoculars valued at EC$400, and a quantity of beverages valued at EC$1320, the property of a 58 year old businessman of Brighton. The police said in a release that the incident occurred between 10:00 p.m on May 30 and 6:00 a.m on May 31, 2022.

When Richards appeared in Court on Friday to answer the charge he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail with one surety. He was ordered to report to the Calliaqua police station every Wednesday between the hours of 6:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m. The matter was adjourned to July 18, 2022.
