23 year old pleads not guilty to firearms charges

A 23 year old farmer of Rose Place and Victoria Village pled not guilty when he appeared in the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 on two firearms related charges.

The police said in a release that Bally Alexander was arrested and charged on Wedesday, March 23 with the possession of an illegal firearm without a licence under the Firearms Act, and unlawfully discharging a loaded firearm.

Alexander allegedly had the illegal firearm, make and serial number unknown in his possession, and discharging the illegal loaded firearm within one hundred (100) yards of a public road at Tyrell Street, Kingstown on March 19,2022.

When the accused appeared in court on March 23 where he pleaded not guilty, he was granted bail in the sum of $12,000 with one surety. Alexander was also ordered to surrender his travel documents, and was placed on a curfew from 6:00 p.m to 6:00 a.m. The accused was also ordered to report to the Central Police Station every Monday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The matter was adjourned to April 8, 2022.
